Del Sol Around the Community...
Below you'll see what we've been doing lately, both at the rink and in the
community at large. Team del Sol really tries to give back to the community who
helps us with our many endeavors and fundraising efforts.
- San Diego Food Bank - This year
the teams made monthly food donations to the Food Bank. We were recognized with
a certificate from the organization at our annual banquet.
- Toys for
Tots - Every year, the team chooses a charity to support around the
holidays. This past season, we chose Toys for Tots. We presented the toys that
we collected to the Marines at SDIA's annual holiday show.
- Children's
Hospital - This year the senior team volunteered at the Rink at
Horton Square, which benefitted Children's Hospital of San Diego. Hopefully this
will turn into an annual event!
- Children's Convalescent Center -
We had the opportunity to skate with the disabled children from the center this
year. The senior team brought the wheelchairs onto the ice, and had a blast
with the kids! The teams also participate in holiday events that are held at
the center.
Lions
Club - The teams participated in the Lions Club International
Convention Ice Show. Each team performed its program & skated in the
"Titanic" production number. See pics here.
